It's cute! I've seen this no-eyebrows thing on more paintings, mostly medieval ones, made long before this one. Perhaps it was a fashion-thing and Mona Lisa is just an old-fashioned girl. :)

Gouache can be expensive or cheap. It's an opaque watercolor. Been used for centuries. It was Mary Blair's medium of choice.
