ARGH!

Ok, I REALLY REALLY wish I was not posting this news but I have to! I can no longer run Monday Artday! I am so busy with work, building a house (just me and my husband no help), taking care and visiting family in another town, and now school! My husband is getting a job in another town so we are also going to have a very big move and change of lifestyle very soon. Anyways, the list goes on and on.

I have thought about this for a very long time! I had not posted this yet because I had hoped my life would have become calmer by now. But instead it has gone the complete opposite!

So, do ANY of you want to volunteer to run Monday Artday? If I think you can do it and you have been a member for awhile then the job is yours! What do you say?

I'm sure many of you will be angry or sad...I'm sooooo sorry!! I have been trying for a very long time hoping it would become easier. Sometimes life can throw many many challenges. Right now it is throwing a million! I will still have my personal art blog which I will update from time to time. I did open an etsy store hoping to make a little extra cash but I might end up closing it as well.

I would love to run the Monday Artday blog again when my life is more calm. I love Monday Artday SO SO much! I have a ton of fun with all of you great artists and friends. I have made some of the greatest friends through this blog. I hope you will understand and please still stop by my personal blog to say hello.

I will still keep Monday Artday ATC up and running because it basically runs its self. So keep on trading and having fun!

If noone ends up running this blog, I will leave it running for everyone so that you will still be able to post your artwork and talk to members. I will not be posting weekly challenges or winners. I will drop in from time to time but not nearly as often as I usually do! New members are still welcome.. it is a simple process for me to add new members so I will add you to the list but not as in such a timely manner as usual. Maybe someone should suggest a weekly challenge every week and then everyone can go from there? Any suggestions?

I'm really sorry Bearuh and wish you well. This site and your comments have really helped raise my confidence in drawing and I'm sure others feel the same but things have to move on. Maybe we can keep on submitting and accepting each other's suggestions and comments if you are willing and able to keep the blog running. Thanks anyway.

Oh Bearuh! So sorry to hear about this, hope your life will be calm soon. I agree with Helen, just let this blog running so that we will be able to post and comment. Maybe an artist can come up with a theme every week, he/she will also be responsible to create the awards too.

change is sooooo good, babe! it's all EXCELLENT what's happening to you and your life and this little blog will be just fine while you are building your new house and living your life. :))) i love aene's/emilia's thoughts about weekly artist ideas then posting, when we can. just so ppl have a place to continue to get all that amazing confidence and sense of community that YOU have given us - just pop in when you can! ")

it'll all work out, you'll see! my very very best in all that you do, b! :))

I'm sure this can be run about the same as ATC, with people alternating topics. Awards could be handed out on a comment basis, if awards need to be handed out. I think that with as many people there are who have access to this blog that everyone could pitch in and make it work. There is a list of people on the sidebar, though not everyone participates, that could be used to choose who will do the next Monday Artday topic.

It could be done in so many ways.
I am not too good at personal blogging but I love to inspire others and be part of a larger community. I'd love to help in whatever way I can.

We'll still be here for you when you return.

Hey, Bearuh. I totally understand. I'm not sorry though because I know Monday Artday will continue and I know you will still be part of it and part of us.

I would like to volunteer to take over the managing of this site. I do agree, however, that subjects would best be suggested by artists here. I don't see how awards can be given without a judge (and you have been a very good one). However, this does give you an opportunity to contribute art here, no? :)

It's important to live your life with the quality you feel you can afford it! monday Artday will not be the same... but change is just what happens!
best wishes to you and yours B!

Thank you everyone sooo much for understanding! Mike... I would LOVE to have you as the admin/manager! I just gave you admin privileges so good luck! I know you will have a lot of fun! And of course I will still stop in and yes I will have more time to submit my own work now! yay!

BWAAH-AHH-AHH-AHH-AAAHHHHH... ahem, I mean, thanks, Bearuh! I'll try my best to use my powers only for good.

Questions for everyone - Do you want to keep the weekly and monthly award? If so, we can do one of 2 things - I can be judge (if you trust me) and I'll play but not compete - OR, the winner of the previous week or month will serve as judge, then the next winner will be judge etc. Thoughts?

I'm hoping with the lessened stress of running this site that you will be here more often, Bearuh. :)

froggie is... said...

heyyyy, that's like um, TAG, kind of. you start it, then the um, winner of that weekly one, they do the next one, and then the winner of that one does the next one and so on and so on...

maybe we should just do the weekly thing then? dunno...just my thoughts here.

wow...mike's powers for good. ONLY good. wait'll i tell josh and jeffy! :)))

the empire will never be the same...

sorry to hear that bearuh, I hope you will have less stress in the near future and wish you all the best and that you stay among us as an artist!

Mike is definitely the best successor, I wish you all the best too!
I think the monthly and weekly competitions should both live on.
I like the fact that you can post to free themes as well as do competitions, that´s the magic of Monday Artday. (but maybe only one weekly theme and winner?)

but I think mike will make it good!
long live Monday Artday!!!

I honestly don't care if there are awards or not. However, Mike's suggestion of the current week's winner judges the next week is a good idea. I would like to see the weekly challenges come from participant's suggestions (a la another illustration blog). Aside from that, I just want to draw and post.
Mike, I hope that Monday Artday doesn't keep you too busy THIS YEAR and you'll have time to meet me in Disneyland in August.

Samuli S. said...

I wish you strength, Bearuh. Hopefully you'll have time to rest as well in all that turmoil. It's nice that you won't disappear altogether, though!

Mike, I think it might be problematic to make the weekly winner always choose the next one. The winner might not have time or not receive the email in time. A week is not such a long time. I would rather put my trust in your judgement or a voting system (for example, based on comments).

Oh wow, I just saw this post... Bearuh, you have been an AWESOME Administrator and we can't thank you enough for the hard work you have put on this site! I'm so grateful for the many wonderful ideas you've given us to inspire creativity. It sounds like many exciting things are happening in your life and you don't need to be sorry for wanting to have more time for you... and more free time just to post your own work here too! Yay, Mike will be an EXCELLENT Admin! I also like the idea of weekly challenges coming from participant's suggestions (not sure how you all want to do that but I'm sure it will work out)... and yes, it would be good to continue allowing posts even if not related to the week's theme. I wish you all the best, Bearuh! =)

Honor said...

Best wishes to Bearuh! Thanks for all your hard work and I hope we see you posting here.

Cheers to Mike! I agree with JC regarding the future running of the site.

Mike Baker as our judge and jury. Never thought I would see the day. Heehee. Bearuh you have been awesome creating this site for others to share their artwork. I'm glad it worked out so that you are still going to be able to hang with us. I like Mike's idea of having the winner from the last theme be the judge, neat idea.

Now Mike dont let all this power go to your head and all. So what do we call you now, Master Baker (heehee that just sounds funny), Your Highness, Your Majesty, or Artistic God of Monday Artday?

Kstyles said...

Bearuh, thanks for creating this site and for all of the creative ideas you've come up with to inspire great art. Good luck with all of your future endeavors and I look forward to seeing more of your work on here. I think Mike would be the perfect person to administer the site and I'm game with what ever method is chosen as far as the awards are concerned.

Bearuh this site was a great idea! Obviously from everyone's comments,
I'm not the only one who thinks so.
I love the weekly challenges, commenting and the comments. It sounds like we can keep it going with Mike at the lead and you can pop-in anytime your life gives a moment! Enjoy all your upcoming changes!! You started a great thing here!!!

Bearuh said...

Thanks guys! You are all so awesome and supportive!! I think that is a GREAT idea to have the winner decide the next challenge and next winner!! Then the site would pretty much run itself and mike would have it easy ;)

Roberta said...

I'm reading these comments and I'm thinking...wow, this is what has made it such a warm and fun community!
Cheers to you Bearuh, for all you've done. Jump into your adventure with both feet!
And also to you Mike! You'll do soooo awesome!

mike r baker said...

Thanks, everyone. I'll do my best. Thanks, Bearuh.

Samuli does bring up something to consider - having the winner of the weekly challenge pick the next winner AND pick the next subject will put a lot of responsiblity on him or her. Are we all up for that responsibilty? I think it would be great if we can do that but some of us might not have the time.

Here's my suggestion: I will take any suggestion for a topic from all of you if you want to contribute and I will be in charge of posting the challenges. The winner of a challenge will pick the next winner (but not the topic). If someone should decide to pass on picking the winner (or is more than 3 days late checking in) then I will pick the winner and that winner will pick the next winner. That way the site will continue to run smoothly, winners can choose winners, and no one is obligated to be judge after winning if they don't want to. How's that?

Um, ok, but shouldn't this have it's own post instead of a comment? ^_~

Bearuh...good luck girl! I’m so happy to hear your live is changing for good… you deserve the best! You know we'll miss you so much as you have been a great administrator of this wonderful community...but we'll still have you as a friend among us and that is relief

I’m also sure that “The Great Master Mike” (previously known as Mike R. Baker) will do a great job as administrator…excellent choice!

Oh “Great Master Mike”, the new way of choosing the weekly challenge is great, I think we are prepared for that, and that way you could be a participant. As for the monthly challenge, personally I’d like it to be a keeper…with you as the permanent judge

Thank you so much Bearuh, as you have not only created a great art site but a friendly and pleasurable community!

that makes wicked good common sense, i think, because for me, um, the less responsibility will be all the better for you guys. some days, the brian, um, brine, (oh geez) BRAIN, isn't all that jellied. it's more um, liquid and messy and slooshy and just wicked distracted (by passing cars) and wouldn't you just know on a day like that, i'd havta judge something AND keep track of the weekly challenge.

"No! No! No! this is AWFUL! Wher'd that GREEN come from? Are ya KIDDING ME? I MEAN, THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A CAMEL?"

"IIIIII don't know who won! YOU guys go pick someone! I GOTTA go make dinner!"

ack. know thyself, right? i totally do. beeeeliiieeve me!

Samuli S. said...

I was thinking along the same lines as ms. froggie and what Mike suggested sounds really sensible. It would be like putting church and state together with the previous winner choosing the subject AND who wins that subject. This is much better! (my allegory might not be the best but you get the point)

mike r baker said...

Your allegory is awesome, Samuli! :)

And Froggy - what would we do with out your distractions, er, stream of consciousness?

Okay. Looks like we have a good plan going here... I will pose it again in another post.

i view this as one of your little babies, you gave it life and now you must push it out of the nest and move on to another baby or babies. Great creation and gift and i know it will live on! Thank You Bearuh!!!
