Thomas Sankara

Thomas Sankara was a charismatic leader of Burkina Faso and is often referred to as the "Che Guevara of Africa". He introduced social and economic reforms and pledged himself to women´s rights. He banned genital mutilation and condemned polygamy.
4 years after his seizure of power he was murdered by the military. (More on Wikipedia and YouTube.)
