Around 2001, when my family and I first got cable TV, my girls started watching the "Powerpuff Girls" on Cartoon Network. The show, which was created by animator Craig McCracken, centered around Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, 3 kindergarten-aged girls, as well as Professor Utonium, their father. According to the plot, the Professor wanted the "perfect little girl," so he mixed "sugar and spice, and everything nice," in his lab. However, he accidentally added "Chemical X," which gave him 3 girls with superpowers. As with many superhero series, the team fought fantastical villains and monsters who also had superpowers and/or weapons. The characters lived in the fictional city of "Townsville, USA" and were usually called into service by the city's mayor. It was a fun and wholesome show that could be enjoyed by both children and adults.
