Join us, Josh... be one with the cuteness! Sorry, Josh, but I had to do it. Josh Pincus said in his post below, "I see a lot of puppies and smiles and children and flowers on this blog." I suppose that might scare off anyone who's not doing "cute" as well. Josh is a brave, brave man. Welcome, Josh! And anyone else who might be quivvering in fear of the
cutesies! Don't hold back on your style. We're adults here. We can take it. :)

Cute has great power. Cute releases oxytocin in the person who gazes upon it.
Oxytocin is the hormone released by nursing women...to aid in mother-infant bonding. (it's also the evil hormone that causes contractions, but we won't go there.)
When people are stroked, petted, and/or groomed, they release oxytocin. Any pleasant, non-threatening touch releases oxytocin in the person touching and the person being touched. And this is a wonderful thing, ey? After all, we are social animals. And bonding is what maintains a happy clan/community.
Seeing 'cuteness' also releases oxytocin. I have cooed and squeaked OUT LOUD (and in public) upon seeing the cuteness on some good illustrators' blogs. Seeing a cute illustration puts me in a good mood for hours.
And that's also a good thing, cuz I can be a colossal bitch when I'm not in a good mood.
Who knows how many random acts of violence cuteness has stopped.
ok that rosy pink belly button...on the puppie's tummy...that's cavity prone cute, baker...
didja see pan's labyrnth? that "eyeless" child eating monster...in a red union suit...eating these rainbows...that's also, er, cute! :)
::stroking catnapping and scratching her behind the ears::
So, I love cute things because it keeps me from killing things? Whoa. I'm so bad. :)
Pan's Labyrnth was awesome, Froggie. Sad, magical and poignant. But that monster? Not so cuddly, I'm thinking.
I'm with Catnapping! I know some illos are dripping with cuteness, but how can that be a bad thing? If every illo I looked at was devilish or dark, I think it would be a sure thing it would affect my day. But puppies and kittens? Bring em' on!! Excellent illo Mike!
Extremely cute, Mike! I'm loving it!
I like Josh's style. Though he drew mostly scary monster and such, they're all unique. There are some cute illos by him as well, like the man with the big belly whose forgotten to wear his belt, the Carmen Miranda and err.. the background framed photo of little red riding hood in his scary 'fairy tale' post.
Okay... I asked for it!
ahhh cute puppy, i wanna rub his tummy. you got ut all, Sweet reponse!
Josh is a manly man that can admit he wants to belong to a group of cuties! Josh has a laugh out loud sense of humour, his art is great, he really shows a different viewpoint that i love. You my friend stated from the git that you love cute, that is a wonderful thing and now you have a huge following of people that love your cuteness, I am one of them!
Sugar-coated sweetness dripping in a thick, rich syrup toasted until the edges caramelize...yummy cute!
Heh... Thanks, you guys!
Val, I agree with all you said! Josh is a great guy.
A manly man? Me? HA! I don't own a single power tool, I barely know how to put gas in my car and I don't watch football.
Pfft! None of that has anything to do with being manly. A manly man is confident, honest, strong in his convictions but open-minded. A manly man has high values and ethics and won't sit still when they are challenged but will stand and speak out when confronted with bigotry, abuse, sexism, etc. A manly man does what's right, regardless of personal cost.
I don't like football either (the American kind). I'm more of baseball kind of guy. :)
Jooooin us! lol, u amaze me. I keep finding these overlooked nuggets.
