"There's worlds to be seen..." from my kid book, Things With Wings Are Amazing Things. (Please someone tell me to just publish the book! I've been sitting on it for awhile and debating if I should self publish or send it out in the rounds again.)
Very cool Ronni! I'm a published children's book author of 2 books that came out 16 years ago. I was so GREEN when I submitted it, it's a wonder it got published! Anyway, there's tons to know about submitting, and even what to say in a cover letter. And you should join SCBWI...it's priceless! If I can help with any questions, please let me know :) ~Laurel~
Publish it now, sell it on your site, get copies and ask local independant booksellers to carry it for you. I'm no expert though.
Sanjay Patel (Pixar artist) created "Little India" and self-published and sold it on his website: http://gheehappy.com/ Meanwhile, he worked to get it published and got a deal with Penguin (it's now called "Little Hindu"). I'm sure that it was already selling helped.
