Grimm

Click image to see more detail.

This is a Triptych Illustration of an obscure story by The Brothers Grimm. It is from "The Story of the Youth Who Went Forth to Learn What Fear Was." The climax of the story is when the youth stays in a haunted castle for three nights in an effort to learn what fear is. Night one, he is confronted by scary cats with fiery chains. Night two, he bowls with a group of severed in half men who use skulls for balls and legs for pins. Night Three, he wagers his life, with an old man, that he can cut in anvil in two with an axe. The whole time he mutters to himself "If I could but shiver." Odd and grim story to say the least.

I recommend anyone who is interested in these Grimm Stories to download a pdf to read at your leisure.

Late again, but I hope you all enjoy this anyway.
