And The Winner Is... Won Tsuen!

The winner for the "Circus" challenge is:

Won Tsuen!

Congratulations to Won Tsuen. I chose Winnie Won Tsuen Yiu's "Circus" (click the image at the link to see better detail) as the winner for the Circus challenge. Her illustrations are surreal, imaginative, expressive and odd. Wonderful.

The other circus illustrations I love (in particular) were all done by previous winners. Claudio Rodriguez Valdes, Vicente (and again), Joy (incredible poster!), Kyle-Creative, k.h.whitaker, and happy chinchilla!  ...And many other entries that were just incredible!!! A very difficult choice. Keep 'em coming!

Flea Circus Geek Final

I posted the sketch a few days ago, here's the final illustration in living color (except for the chicken – not much "living" going on there) for the "Circus" challenge.

Circus Clown

Using Photoshop, I started with a photo of a famous person to create my clown. If you can't figure out who that person is, check out Who Was That Clown? on my blog.

"The fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown."               ---Carl Sagan (1934 - 1996)

I've never been a big fan of clowns. I think they are kind of creepy, and sad rather than funny.

.:: Flea Circus ::.

I have never seen a flea circus, and I don´t really know if they actually exist. The fleas come from an older illustration, you can see it here.  Although they were not so active in that illustration, they were kind of dying.

Politics can be a real "Circus"

I posted these two cartoons for the last contest "Caricature." (I wish now I'd posted my Britney Spears "Wheel" for caricature.) Oh well.
I drew these after the presidential candidates announced their selections for vice-president.
Do you see John McCain's face in the elephant?
