Miscalculated

Having been born with the proverbial 2-left-feet, the concept of miscalculate takes me to the many ways I can misstep, having miscalculated again.

But, the most common cause of my misstepping is caused by miscalculating where the dang cat is at any given moment. Especially if I'm heading down the stairs with my arms full.

I think this is an inbred trait in the entire species known as cat. What do you think?

2 Colours

I drew this for a colleague who just became a principal at an elementary school. It seemed to fit the theme, 2 Colours <--very European btw :) since it's comprised of two colors: shades of yellow and green. I haven't participated in Monday Artday in a long time, so here ya' go! Enjoy!

Politics can be a real "Circus"

I posted these two cartoons for the last contest "Caricature." (I wish now I'd posted my Britney Spears "Wheel" for caricature.) Oh well.
I drew these after the presidential candidates announced their selections for vice-president.
Do you see John McCain's face in the elephant?

Train

Please clean your port area
with your cleansing stick
Some pretend it is a train
moving very quick.

This illustration is from one of the books I illustrated for the hemophilia community called "Infusion time".  It represents the part in the infusion process for a child with a port a cath (central line in the chest) when the area needs to be sterilized before the needle is inserted.  Another example of those brave kids!  http://susanbethstudio.blogspot.com/

Fiery JalapeƱo

This is my first submission for Monday Artday. This week challenge made me immediately think of my newly planted  jalapeƱos and the mischief that goes around this time of the year.

Fire, Juggling, and Monday Artday

This is Boom-Boom, sword-swallowing, juggling, and tightrope-walking over fire. I sometimes feel like her as I go about my life of home-maker, husband, dad, webmaster for California State University, and squeezing in art, blogging, and Monday Artday.

I just got an email from a marketing company proposing advertising on this site. I looked them up - they promote online poker. Hoo-boy. I've made the decision not to advertise on this site. Maybe one day I'll offer some Monday Artday-specific products but I think I can keep the site looking more friendly and fun by not littering it with google ads and gambling sites. I'll find another way to make that 10 or 20 dollars a month. Really, the satisfaction of knowing that artists are coming here to inspire and be inspired is payment enough.

Rock on, artists!

100% Cute

Since all of my character illustrations tend to be on the cute side, I knew I had to create something for this week's challenge. While it's not quite an object, as it's sort of a bug, it does have the cute factor...in fact it's 100% cute.

The character I drew first as a quick sketch, then digitally drawn in Illustrator, finally as a composite with a background created in Photoshop. Created just for Monday Artday!
