Nursery Rhyme - Mary Had a Little Lamb

"It followed her to school one day, which was against the rule."
Sharpie Marker Illustration
Original ©Character by Arnoldo L. Romero

I incorporated this character illustration into 3 different designs, which you may find here.  I've featured her before in a different role in my blog, but I haven't named her.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.  I would love to hear them.  Blessings!

"And when he came to the place where the Wild Things are,
they roared their terrible roars. And gnashed their terrible teeth.
And rolled their terrible eyes. And showed their terrible claws…"

Book Cover by CJ @ ProArtz

(Click on image for larger view.)

I had been using Photoshop for years. I was totally self-taught.  I bought Illustrator but found it was much different and never learned to use it.  But once I turned 62, I was able to take free classes at the community college, so I signed up for a class on Illustrator in the Graphic Arts department. One of my assignments was to illustrate a familiar children's story for the cover of "Fairy Tales for Grown-Ups: The Classics Retold."  I had fun creating this for my class assignment ---and it fits the Monday Artday topic nicely, too.

100% Cute

Since all of my character illustrations tend to be on the cute side, I knew I had to create something for this week's challenge. While it's not quite an object, as it's sort of a bug, it does have the cute factor...in fact it's 100% cute.

The character I drew first as a quick sketch, then digitally drawn in Illustrator, finally as a composite with a background created in Photoshop. Created just for Monday Artday!

Maria Madonna Davidoff Postcard Art:

This is a watercolor painting I've done based on a story of a Little Girl and a Turtle. It was exhibited at the Society of Children's Book Illustrators 2003 conference in New York City. I was surprised and happy to find out that it won an award as one of the 10th finalist out of 250 submissions.

Here is an article about the award : Maria Madonna Davidoff at SCWBI Artist Showcase

The original water color painting was sold at the exhibit , but I had postcards of it printed professionally and they are available at my shop:CraftyMadonna
