Trick or Treat

This weeks sketch... I decided to go for a creature/monster desguised as a Jack o Lantern.

I totally loved it...

I have been SUPER Focused on improving my overall skills, (I wake up everyday at 5:00 just to sketch for a couple of hours before I go to work), and Monday Artday is a great way to keep improving my creativity... Anyway I hope you like it

Cephalopod like THING!

Hi all!

Hi everyone, it's my first time to post here... Illustration Friday just upped their new topic, from "fierce" to "sour" and I was going to post what I did for "fierce" here but I wasn't sure if it was okay as it's more of a digital art/photography collage rather than an illustration. So I decided to post this guy instead.


I'm pleased to be here and I'm looking forward to seeing more work, participating in the weekly challenges and making new blog friends :)

Kappa

A kappa is a pretty disgusting creature in Japanese literature, whose head is hollow like a bowl on top. It attacks human beings in a rather rude way and has a fondness for cucumbers. One can trick it by bowing to it; when it returns the bow, it spills the water in the bowl that is its head, and therefore loses its power and becomes harmless. This kappa has had even more bad luck and lost its body entirely. His head is now used for storing light. This drawing was made with graphite on coquille paper.

Mystical

Max Schreck, as movie legend tells it, was mystical. He was a German actor. He supposedly kept to himself and not much was known about his life outside of acting. His most famous role was Count Orlock in the 1922 silent film "Nosferatu", notoriously based on (although unauthorized) the novel Dracula. The story is, that during the filming of "Nosferatu", Max stayed in character, would only shoot his scenes at night and came to the set in full theatrical make-up. There were rumors that Max was actually a vampire. In the movie Shadow of the Vampire, that is exactly how Willem Dafoe played him.
However, these stories are total fabrication. Max was just an actor on stage and screen, appearing in 51 movies in sixteen years. He died in 1936 of a heart attack. No wooden stakes were involved.
