And The Winner Is... Edrian Thomidis!

The winner for the "spider" challenge is:

Edrian Thomidis!

Congratulations to Edrian Thomidis. I chose Edrian's "Charlott" as the winner for the spider challenge. You guys gotta pity me, you hear? So many great illustrations and I have to pick one. I decide by effort, subject, if the artist won before, and how good the illustration is. Edrian won this one because it's a beautiful illustration of a scene from a great children's book - wonderful attention to angle, depth, shading and form. Great work!

Speed

It's been a while since I posted anything here, and I just revamped my new business card with a new spot illustration which I thought fit the theme. Happy New Year everyone!

Speed and a White Elephant

Wishing you a fast recovery Mike!

Since I usually hand make all my cards, this year I had to do the same, but I went with an illustration instead:I gave this Elephant a tint of pink to make him cuter and more lively! I also thought to make this image available over at my IMAGEKIND gallery, this way if you want your own White Elephant Gift Exchange cards, you can purchase them there!

Packed for IF

It's been a while since I posted here and I just haven't had the time to create a piece for the theme, so I'm sharing what I created for IF this week.

Detach for IF

I created this as a late entry for this week's Illustration Friday. I interpreted the topic in two ways; The obvious, the parents and the little boy 'detach' on the first day of school. For the little one and the parents, it's usually a moment filled with uncertainty and worry.
The second meaning is more personal, I 'detached' myself from my usual style and medium to experiment with something new.  I recently checked out about 20 or more children's books and have been visiting the children's section at BN quite regularly trying to find books that mimic my current style, and to my surprise, I have not been able to find any that resembles mine. (if you know of one, let me know...I'm curious).
Anyway, that made me think, that perhaps my illustrations are not kid friendly enough, and I should vary my style and try more simple shapes and more flat colors.
I used gouache and watercolors for this one. Any thoughts or comments are welcomed!

Thanks!

1 Character, 4 panels

I started this character as an exercise for last week's Illustration Friday theme poof. The idea evolved from a sketch to a series of illustrations for a mini story. I have colored two of the illustrations, and may complete the other two.
Any feedback or comments are always welcomed!

SUMMER

This is my summer post. If you have kids, summer usually means lots of time spent at the pool or the beach!
One of my previous post was perfect for this week, but I wanted to post something new. It is part of a set of seasonal cards... check it out here!

opposites

This was my original post for IF. However, since mother and baby are opposite from each other, I think it works for this week's theme here too.

SUMMER IN COLOR!

This is my first post here. It doesn't relate to this week's challenge, but I just finished it and wanted to share. It is from a series of cards I've been working on to represent the seasons. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

revised...
I changed the magnifying glass to a net. I think this works much better!
Thanks for the great feedback!
